RON HOWARD

EXPERIENCE: Ron Howard is best known in Fort Wayne as a Mad Ants basketball standout earning him the nickname “Mr. Mad Ant” for his contributions on and off the court. He played collegiately at Marquette and Valparaiso. As a professional, Ron lead Fort Wayne to the 2014 NBA D-League Championship, earning Co-MVP recognition that season. He is the Mad Ants all-time leading scorer with 4,324 career points, a three-time NBA D-League All-Star, and a two-time NBA D-League Jason Colliers Sportsmanship award recipient. Ron’s #19 jersey was retired during a special halftime presentation in March 2017. He has played in eight different countries and participated in three NBA training camps over the span of his 15 year playing career. His role with Optimum Performance Sports allows him to help nurture athletic achievement and sportsmanship for young athletes in the area. He is a true mentor and role model to the youth of our community.
