Dr. Jason Russell is the founder and director of OPS. He received his B.S. in Kinesiology from Indiana University and his Doctorate degree from National University of Health Sciences. Dr. Russell has a concentration in the fields of biomechanics, gait analysis, gait therapy, and complicated movement disorders, and he has 10 years of experience with resistance and aerobic exercise adaptations and speed development. Dr. Russell lectures regularly on the treatment and prevention of athletic injuries and on speed development in athletes. His clinical interests are conservative musculoskeletal medicine with particular emphasis on running injuries, foot and hip pain, and overuse injuries.
Matt received both a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a master's in sport administration and management from Indiana University. During his time at IU, he was a shooting guard for the Hoosiers from 2008-2012, earning the Big Ten Medal of Honor his senior year for achievements in the classroom and on the court. Matt oversees daily operations for OPS at ASH Centre including responsibilities associated with the OPS Basketball Academy. Matt is also involved in account services with community partners and high schools. While off the clock, he coaches a 17U AAU team and is a high school basketball official.
Ron Howard is best known in Fort Wayne as a Mad Ants basketball standout earning him the nickname "Mr. Mad Ant" for his contributions on and off the court. He played at Valparaiso University where he earned second-team all-conference recognitions his junior and senior years. As a professional basketball player, Ron led Fort Wayne to the 2014 NBA D-League Championship, earning Co-MVP recognition that season. He is the Mad Ants all-time leading scorer with 4,324 career points, a three-time NBA D-League All-Star and a two-time NBA D-League Jason Colliers Sportsmanship award recipient. Ron's #19 jersey was retired during a special halftime presentation in March 2017. He has played in seven different countries and participated in three NBA training camps over the span of his 15 year playing career.
His role with Optimum Performance Sports allows him to help nurture athletic achievement and sportsmanship for young athletes in the area. He is a true mentor and role model to the youth of our community.
Zac received his B.S. in Atheltic Training from Purdue University and his M.S. in Recreation and Sport Management from Tennessee University. He joined OPS/Fort Wayne Orthopedics in 2012 as the Fort Wayne Mad Ants head atheltic trainer. Prior to the Mad Ants, Zac completed an internship with the Buffalo Bills (2008-2009) and was a graduate assistant at Tennessee with the Athletic Training department (2010-2012). Zac oversees the operations for all of our Athletic Trainers and also serves as an Athletic Trainer at Bishop Dwenger High School. Under Zac's leadership, our athletic trainers are continuely progressing in the sports medicine field to provide the best care for our student athetes. Outside of work, Zac is an avid outdoorsman, he enjoys lake sports and hunting.
